Bureau's Marketing Efforts Get Top Industry Award
TEMECULA, Calif. - Temecula Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau was judged among the best in the state for its efforts to market the 2007 Temecula Valley International Film and Music Festival.
The bureau received the Best Print Piece award at the 2008 Marketing Excellence Awards at the California Travel Industry Association conference held recently at the Marriott Desert Springs in Palm Desert.
The creative direct mail piece that served as an invitation for the Temecula Valley International Film and Music Festival was named the Judge's Choice by a panel made up of industry marketing experts and was selected People's Choice as well by conference attendees.
"We are exceptionally pleased that our marketing efforts were recognized from a field of competitors that included some of the largest tourist destinations in the state," said Kimberly Adams, president and chief executive officer of the Temecula Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau. "The award is an added bonus because the marketing piece is one of many that we do to promote special events and encourage extended stays in the Temecula Valley."
The eye-catching invitation was created by graphic designer Justin Lawler with justinlawler.net.
The Temecula Valley Visitors & Convention Bureau, formed four years ago, is a non-profit organization whose mission is to stimulate economic growth and tourism by promoting the Temecula Valley as a premiere destination to meeting planners, tour operators and leisure travelers. The bureau is the first in Inland Southern California to use marketing assessment fees rather than taxpayer money to market the region.
A recent study conducted by Dean Runyan Associates estimated that visitor spending in the Temecula Valley in 2007 reached $604.7 million, a 10.5 percent increase from 2006. Tourism-related employment in 2007 reached 6,620 workers, up 2.6 percent from 2006 and 21.8 percent from 2000. Tourism-related spending in 2007 resulted in $23.6 million in taxes to local and state coffers, up 9.6 percent from a year ago and 16.6 percent from 2000, according to the report.
