Geography

Geographically positioned in the southwest corner of Riverside County, the Temecula Valley is viewed as a bedroom community of San Diego since it attracts more residents from San Diego County than anywhere else.

Temecula has twice been named "The Best City in Riverside County to live in" by The Press-Enterprise for its superior quality of life. Sound management along with tax revenues generated by the many shopping  opportunities and surrounding stores have made it possible for the city to provide its citizens with a solid infrastructure, low crime rate, clean air and an abundance of cultural and recreational programs. Temecula is located 33.50 degrees north of the equator and 117.12 degrees west of the prime meridian. Temecula elevation ranges from approximately 1,175 to 2,600 feet.

Weather

Temecula Valley weather is comparable to the Napa Valley, as evidenced by a burgeoning wine industry, with warm, dry days and cool evenings. Although separated from the Pacific by the Santa Rosa range, the Rainbow Gap funnels the mild beach climate into the valley. Average summer highs are 85 degrees; winter lows 39 degrees. Yearly average rainfall in Temecula is approximately 14 inches, as compiled by the Rancho California Water District. The quality of air in the Temecula Valley is consistently better than that of surrounding counties. Ocean breezes flow through the valley almost every day, sweeping away smog. In the summer, you might typically feel the gentle Pacific winds that help keep temperatures lower than what you would find in some of the surrounding area.
